What makes a community a good fit.

Water alone will not make a WaterStarter work. A lot of what we look for is about the community itself, and whether the model is going to sit well alongside how things already work.

  • A population of roughly 1,500 to 7,500 people within a reasonable walking radius of the site.
  • A willingness to co invest at least 15 percent of the CAPEX, usually through a co op or a local entrepreneur.
  • A groundwater assessment that looks likely to support yields in the range of six to ten cubic metres per hour.
  • Support from the county government, or at least a clear non objection.
  • An openness to prepaid metering and to shared monitoring across the network.

After you apply, we set up a call and, when it feels right, come out to visit the site. If the fit is there, the hydrogeology and scenario planning steps start soon after.
